Chris Vavro
Hi, I’m Chris Vavro, the founder of A Space for Healing (ASFH). I have always wanted to support the growth of clinicians as well as provide a place for people who need skilled and caring therapy to find someone to help them heal.
So I created A Space For Healing and invited people who were bright, skilled, and as passionate about helping trauma survivors heal as I am. The result is a small group of people who offer a variety of therapies from CBT and motivational interviewing to narrative therapy, feminist centered therapy, neurodivergent focused therapy, IFS, EMDR, and DBR.
Although I greatly valued my time in community mental health, there is a scarcity of time and resources that often lead to burnout. I aimed to provide something different for my clinicians: the ability to make your own schedule, lack of productivity requirements, and increased compensation. This frees up our resources for…our lives!

I knew Cara and Sarah from my time in community mental health and they soon started working with me. We added Carly, Kathy and most recently Sam and Danielle.

I keep expanding my own knowledge base to be able to offer my clients the best possible therapy and tailor my skills to fit each individual in my care.

When I discovered Deep Brain Reorienting (http://www.deepbrainreorienting.com), my life changed significantly. I knew it was time for me to start a practice that focuses on a healing that is powerful, profound, abiding.

My Story
I graduated with my Master of Social Work degree in 2017, embarking on a second career after 20+ years in information technology. My initial path through school culminated in a MA in cognitive psychology, so the brain has always had a special place in my heart. Little did I know that I would be working with the brain in a healing profession many years later. Even more surprising is my own shift from a focus on the logical brain to working with more primitive, unconscious parts of Self. And, incidentally, a shift towards my clients’ hearts and my own. Collaborating in the healing process and being present as my clients shift into new ways of being present in the world is the most fulfilling aspect of my therapeutic work.
For Clinicians:
My second love is assisting clinicians and walking with them in their journey. I provide
EMDR consultation, DBR consultation, case consultation, and clinical supervision for LSWs.
