What is a Shamanic Practitioner? Shamanic healing is
a spiritual method of healing that deals with the spiritual aspect of illness. There are three common causes of illness
in the shaman’s worldview. 1) A person may have lost his or her power, causing depression, chronic illness,
or a series of misfortunes. In this case, the shaman journeys to restore that person’s lost power. 2)
Or a person may have lost part of their soul or essence, causing soul loss, which sometimes occurs during an emotional
or physical trauma, such as accidents, surgery, abuse, the trauma of war, being in a natural disaster, divorce, the death
of a loved one, or other traumatic circumstances. Soul loss can result in dissociation, post-traumatic stress syndrome,
depression, illness, immune deficiency problems, addictions, unending grief, or coma. Soul loss can prevent us from
creating healthy relationships and the life we truly wish to live. It is the role of the shaman to track down the parts
that have fled and been lost due to trauma by performing a soul retrieval ceremony. 3) Another cause of illness
from a shamanic perspective would be any spiritual blockages or negative energies a client has taken on due
to the loss of his or her power or soul. These spiritual blockages also cause illness, usually in a localized area of
the body. It is the role of the shaman to extract and remove these harmful energies from the body.
A shaman heals both the living and the deceased. In healing those who died, the shaman performs a psychopomp ceremony
of helping those who have died cross over to a comfortable and peaceful place. The ceremony may also include clearing
a home or land of spirits that are in a state of unrest. One of my teachers is Sandra Ingerman. You can find a detailed explanation of how
shamans view and diagnose emotional and physical illness in her books, Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self
and Welcome Home: Following Your Soul’s Journey Home. You can listen to her
CD “The Soul Retrieval Journey” and you can watch a video on her website www.sandraingerman.com. Look for the free dowload link. As shamanic healing deals with the spiritual aspect of illness there is no way to
predict the results that will manifest emotionally or physically. Shamanic healing does not replace the need for traditional
psychological and medical treatment. There are different ways that practitioners can work.
One way is for the shamanic practitioner to only provide spiritual healing and follow up treatments if necessary. Another
option is after the healing work to continue to work with your shamanic practitioner on the process of integration. The purpose of continuing the work would be to find ways to restore balance and harmony in your life and create
a positive present and future for yourself through the use of spiritual practices and ceremonies. Life without passion
and meaning can result in despair. With shamanic practices you can explore how to create a meaningful life. Some people feel they have their own support systems in psychotherapy and with other spiritual
practices and do not feel they need such follow up work with a shamanic practitioner. It is
important that you find what you need to support the shamanic healing work that has been done.

What is Shamanic Reiki?
"Reiki"
(pronounced “RAY kee”) is the Japanese word for “spiritually guided universal life force.”
“Reiki” also refers to the specific healing technique developed in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late
1800's. Reiki promotes stress release and relaxation, supporting the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
Should I
bring anything to a session? How should I prepare? Wear comfortable
clothes and bring an openness to whatever insights or healing you might receive during the session. You
might also want to bring a journal to write down your thoughts and insights afterward. What is a Shamanic
Reiki session like? Each
session is different, but a typical session might go something like this: You will take off your shoes then lie down comfortably
on your back with your eyes closed. The Reiki energy moves through me to you as I place my hands on you,
with your approval, lightly in a series of positions. Reiki is relaxing and helps remove blocks in
your energy field, which promotes your body’s ability to heal on any and all levels – physical, mental, emotional,
spiritual. You might experience tingling, warmth, and other sensation during this process, or you might
not feel anything. Stay open to any images or thoughts you might have. Talk if you feel like
talking. Be silent if that feels right. I will be journeying to my guides during this time
on your behalf, and we will then talk about what I have been shown, which might be literal or metaphorical. You
will then turn over onto your stomach to receive more Reiki energy. Other sessions may include sitting
in a chair rather than lying down or working with various shamanic techniques depending on the information has been shown
to us, what resonates with you, and what would be an appropriate next step in your healing. I may drum and/or
rattle during the session. I will usually use music. Sessions last about an hour to an hour and a
half. It is not bodywork, and you will always remain fully clothed except for your shoes.
How will I feel after a session?
What will the effects be? Make sure you are fully grounded before driving after a session as
you might be a bit spacey. Drink lots of water and pay attention to any new insights that might come up
during the next few days, including any particularly vivid dreams. Spend extra time in nature if you can.
You might want to keep a journal of what comes up for you.
How often should
I have a session? You can have a shamanic Reiki session as
often as you like. Shamanic Reiki is not a magic bullet that will “cure” all in one session
- energetic blockages did not develop overnight, and usually aren’t released overnight either. I
would suggest continuing as often as you like for as long as you find it helpful. Shamanic Reiki can be
used to addressed specific issues as well as to enhance your general well being. Stress is greatly reduced through
this healing practice.

What is Theta Healing TM? Another alternative approach to holistic well being is Theta
Healing. It
does not replace medical care. Spiritual
healing, as in Thetahealing™, connects us to something greater than the individual self. In Thetahealing, the healing
takes place when I enters a theta brain wave state of deep meditation. In this meditative state, I become a channel and witness
for Creator's healing and unconditional love. The client will share the theta brain wave by their connection with
me.
We then journey together through dialogue
and download the Creator to discover your truth and co-create changes for your best and highest good. You will feel
completely safe.
Theta Healing is compatible with all belief systems. The only thing required is a belief in God,
a Universal Force, a Higher Power – as you understand and depend on.
All witnessed healings are instant.
While some will manifest instantly, some will take 24 hours or a few weeks to manifest completely. Some will require more
than one session. The Creator works with us as we are ready to accept the healing. You and I co-create the healing with the
Creator. I act as facilitator. You are the receiver.
In the session it is likely that you will find greater
clarity, peace and joy as you experience the Creator’s unconditional love. I connect first to the Creator and then
with the client. This ensures that the session is conducted from the Creator’s perspective with unconditional love and
that it is free of judgment. Using this spiritual tool, we can change old ideas and beliefs that may be getting in your way
of serenity and joy.
